Karsten Henriksen

Dr. Karsten Henriksen is a distinguished higher education leader, strategist, and scholar with over two decades of executive experience across the public and private sectors. Having served as Faculty, Chair, Dean, Vice-President (Academic), President, and Assistant Deputy Minister, he brings a rare combination of academic, policy, and intergovernmental leadership. His work is driven by a commitment to reconciliation, innovation, and the evolving role of higher education in society.
His research centres on micro-credentials, reconciliation, and domestic enrolment in Canada. He is a Global Advisory Board Member of the World Alliance for Micro-Credentials and has represented Canadian institutions on international platforms including the G7, the University of the Arctic, and major conferences across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal and the Brandon University Distinguished Alumni Award, Dr. Henriksen is recognised for building cross-cultural partnerships, championing Indigenous perspectives in education, and advancing education as a catalyst for social and economic progress.
